YUSUF

Yusuf was sitting on the front steps of his flat in Balham when I took this shot. He told that he is originally from Pakistan but his family spent many years living in Malawi before moving to the UK. He said that Britain has been ‘mostly good’ to him and he has raised two kids who are now grown up and have left home. Because of lockdown, he cannot visit the mosque at the moment and isn’t getting to see his friends so instead, he sits on his front step and chats to people as they pass. Yusuf told me that ‘If your heart is kind then you are a rich man’.
