This is Vanessa watching the Royal Airforce Centenary Flypast. It was an event in London’s Trafalgar Square where planes from the history of aviation including WW2 bombers, did a flypast. Vanessa got quite tearful upon seeing the old warplanes flying over. During the war, her sister lived in a top floor flat in Tooting in South London - an area that was very heavily bombed during the war. She was looking after a disabled relative at the time so when there was an air-raid, they were unable to go down to the bomb shelters. Every night of a raid they could do nothing but wait in their flat and pray that the bombs never hit. For me, watching the RAF flypast was an interesting spectacle, but for some of the older people watching, it was a very moving event.
